Destitute at New Year?

JOBURG - Refugees face eviction from Johannesburg's Central Methodist Church.

According to media reports, hundreds of destitute people who depend on support and shelter from Johannesburg’s Central Methodist Church may be homeless by New Year’s Eve.
The church is the only place that about 500 people can call home, and has offered shelter to the destitute and victims of xenophobia since 2008.
The decision to evict the church’s resident refugees was taken as project head, bishop Paul Verryn, leaves at the close of the year. Verryn has promised to fight for the refugees, and said he will go to the courts if the church fails to provide for this desperate group.

Bishop Paul Verryn has sworn to fight for those who face eviction from the church.
