Bramley police hunt gunman

BRAMLEY – Bramley police are on the lookout for a suspect for attempted murder after he allegedly shot at a motorist, damaging his car.

According to police, the Bramley Park resident was driving his Volkswagen Polo along Glen Road when a dark grey Volkswagen Golf 7 without a registration number overtook him and blocked the driveway in front of him. Bramley police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the victim was driving with one occupant in the car. Mapahakela said, “After the car blocked the victim’s driveway, he (victim) managed to swerve his car around the golf and sped off.

“He then heard several gun shots fired from the Golf. He didn’t stop until he arrived at his residential place.” Maphakela said that while the victim drove home he asked the other occupant to call his (victim’s) wife so she could open the gate for them. When the victim got home he checked around his car and found that his car had bullet holes at the back on the left side. Maphakela said, “Fortunately no one was injured. The victim however didn’t see the number of occupants in the other car.”

Maphakela appealed for public assistance with any information that can lead to the arrest of the other suspects.
