Best wishes from councillor Anthony Still

Ward 90 councillor Anthony Still wished residents well over the holiday period.

Still was elected councillor for the Democratic Alliance this year following successful by-elections held in August, and officially took over from Gordon Mackay.

In his end of year message to the residents of Ward 90, Still said, “I hope that you will find the time over Christmas and New Year to renew your body, mind, and spirit and to spend some time with family and friends. This is also a good time to reflect on the year past and the year ahead, and maybe to read a good book or two.”

Still also asked the community to acknowledge the less fortunate. “There are many lonely or neglected souls out there so spare a thought for them and if possible visit them or invite them to join you at one of the ceremonies that you may have over this period,” he said.

Additionally he also reminded residents to consider civil servants and other staff who have to work over the year-end holidays.

“There are many folk who have to work through this period. Think of those in the police, emergency and health services, the retail and hospitality trades, and the security industry. Spare them a thought and a word of appreciation.

“Some also live far from their homes and very seldom get to see their families. So, a meal or a cold drink or a bit of airtime given to a lonely security guard is much appreciated.”

With regards to contacting the city council for any service queries, Still referred to the guide compiled by his colleague David Potter.

“It can be found [on the look and log website]. I suggest that [residents] download it and print it, to leave at home if you have someone there, and to take away with you for reference.

“2015 will be an interesting year so I suggest that you start it feeling strong. Best wishes,” Still concluded.
