SA is out of the dark for the moment

JOBURG - No load shedding is expected for the next two days, Eskom said.

According to Eskom’s media desk, the power utility did not anticipate load shedding today and tomorrow as its reserves were steadily increasing.

“However, we will provide regular updates to communicate with the public should the situation change,” Eskom’s media desk said.

The implementation of power outages at the weekend, which began on 21 November, enabled the power utility to build reserves to limit the risk of load shedding in the coming week.

The power system had experienced an increase in electricity demand due to the weather conditions and an increase in load losses as a result of multiple tripping of generating units at the Majuba and Matimba power stations, the power utility said.

Eskom lost a total of 1 700 MW of generating power.

Eskom continued to call on all electricity users to switch off geysers, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances in order to allow the power system to recover.
