Man shocked after brutal attack by fellow countrymen

KEW – A FOREIGN national was in shock after he was mugged by his fellow countrymen in Kew.

The man who resides and works as a manager at a company based in Orange Grove, said he had parked his car on the corner of 2nd Street and Corlett Drive when the incident took place.

He said was waiting for his girlfriend outside his car after he had closed the car windows and locked the doors. The man said a few minutes later, a car with three Nigerian occupants stopped in front of his car. The man told police that the three men immediately attacked him. Bramley police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, said the victim alleged that one of the attackers searched him while he was trying to fight off the others.

Maphakela said, “The suspect who was searching the victim allegedly stole R3 000 out of his pocket, and one picked up a stone… and threw it at the car, damaging the roof of the car. The third suspect was holding the victim’s hands. The damages were estimated to be about R10 000.”

The victim alleged that he knew one of the perpetrators but didn’t know his residential address. Maphakela added that the victim told the police that he could positively identify all of his attackers.

The police are searching for the perpetrators.
