JOSHCO turns 10

JOBURG –To celebrate 10 years since opening, The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) will be launching a new community initiative.

JOSHCO is embarking on a refurbishment programme to improve the livelihoods of its tenant communities across Johannesburg.

JOSHCO has brought about a significant change in improving the lives of Johannesburg’s impoverished communities by providing affordable, quality housing since March 2004.

This year, JOSHCO celebrates the twilight of its first decade and reflects on what the company has achieved over the past 10 years, also looking to the horizon for what is coming up. The multiple award winning social housing provider aims to roll out its new strategy on transformation as it continues to restore dignity of the residents of the city by improving on its current housing portfolio by creating liveable spaces for families. To commemorate this achievement, JOSHCO will host a tour to three of its housing projects, namely City Deep Project (Former male hostel), Fleurhof Junction and Europa House (Inner City Project).

The organisation has also revised its vision from being “ a world-class social housing provider of choice” to “a provider of quality affordable housing designed to world-class standards that contribute to a sustainable, resilient, livable city by 2040,” said Nthabiseng Mphela.

The revised strategy’s key objective is to be able to deliver JOSHCO’s product with the same level of efficiency, service, innovation, drive and effectiveness of the private sector while mitigating the risks and constraints in our unique operation environment.
