Joburg’s pubs and breweries team up for a craft beer experience
JOBURG – Joburg's pubs and breweries have partnered up to serve South Africans with a great tasting reason to be proud of our country.
Certain breweries have monopolised the beer industry in South Africa for more than 100 years. It is for this reason that the Pound and Penny Pub and The Tap Room have come together to serve the Sunnyside Park Hotel’s guests with proudly South African craft beers that will no doubt get the foreign guests talking about what South Africa has to offer.
In this time of the craft-beer boom, The Tap Room – a beer distribution company – has approached The Pound and Penny Pub to offer them and their guests beer from two of almost 60 breweries that they deal with. The two beers are Aces Premium Lager and Irish Red.
The Pound and Penny Pub has been standing along with the Sunnyside Park Hotel for more that 30 years and was modeled using the decor of an authentic Irish pub and so it is only fitting that they offer the new Irish Red. The authentic decor creates a lively ambiance that takes guests all the way to Ireland and they hold events like St Patricks Day celebrations to add to the authenticity.
