Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair

HYDE PARK - Thousands of visitors attended the Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair that took place from 7 to 9 November, at the rooftop parking of Hyde Park Shopping Centre.

Showcasing the best of South Africa’s talent across the three broad categories of food, wine and design, the unique one-of-a-kind outdoor market, now in its’ fifth year, bought together exhibitors from all over the country.

Attendees of the fair were spoiled for choice as the stalls’ offerings ranged from artisan products, top wine labels and specialty foods, to designer boutiques and locally-crafted furniture.

More than 100 exhibitors were featured, sharing the best of their products and innovative creations. Originally named FoodWineDesign, this year’s fair was re-branded to emphasise that the event extrapolates beyond just food, wine and design, and to acknowledge the fast-growing return to the artisinal.

The organisers wanted to celebrate the intricate and unique stories behind the products on display, acknowledging the curatorial work that goes into putting the fair together. Many of the products and goods presented to visitors were not only well-made, but ethically produced.
