Bramley police net 62 suspects

BRAMLEY – AS THE festive season is approaching, the Bramley police are beaming with confidence following one of their most successful weeks. Bramley police arrested 62 suspects for various crimes last week.

According to Bramley police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, 26 of those suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of liquor and nine for dagga.

This might be a warning to irresponsible drivers who disregard the road rules and regulations by drinking and driving which contribute to many road accidents.

Maphakela said, “Another three suspects were arrested for drinking in public, nine for loitering, three for domestic violence, one for possession of stolen goods, five for public indecency, three for possession of dangerous weapons and one for theft out of motor vehicle.”

Maphakela said it was a good sign of police commitment in removing crime in the area.

He said it was also a warning to criminals that the police won’t tolerate any criminal activities in the area.

He added that the police also confiscated a toy gun that might be used in criminal activities such as robbery. Maphakela said, “We also confiscated four knives and thirteen counterfeit DVDs. Maphakela said it was a joint operation by police and Metro police.
