Eskom claimed that the coal silo collapse at the Majuba power station in Mpumalanga had interrupted national power supply necessitating nationwide load shedding.
Eskom and City Power, the sub entity which manages parts of Johannesburg’s electricity have announced load shedding schedules online. Power outages are balanced and shared across suburbs on a rotational basis.
Many residents, however complain that schedules announced are unreliable and do not provide enough of an accurate prediction for the duration of power outages.
