Exhibition of portraits and figures at Gallery on 6th

PARKHURST - On Tuesday evenings, a diverse group of artists gather to paint or draw portraits.

Focused entirely on their subject, the group consists of people from varying professions and age groups, all of whom share a love for creating art by doing portraits and figures.

This informal gathering enables it’s participants to allot their talents for portraits in the medium that they feel most comfortable in, whether that be oil, pastels, acrylic or sketch.

“We enjoy capturing people’s expressions”, said Lionel Murcott, a former art teacher who has been present since the group’s inception.

That evening their portrait model 13-year-old Katlego Matele sat diligently as the artists applied their skills in silence and dedicated concentration.

“We are also very casual and relaxed” said artist Carolyn Massey.

The portrait group will open their exhibition on 1 November at the Gallery on 6th located at 28 6th Street Parkhurst, from 11am to 2pm, Wine and snacks will be available.

A selection of the best artwork produced over the year will be on display. The exhibition will then remain until 13 November.
