Time to get planting

JOBURG - IN A bid to eradicate hunger, 2014 World Food Day, on 16 October, encourages families to plant their own vegetable gardens.

MEC for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Norman Shushu is scheduled to reflect on the strides made towards achieving the 2015 Millennium Development Goals. Family Farming, is the theme for this year’s World Food Day.

On this World Food Day the efforts of government will be highlighted in their attempt to eradicate hunger and malnutrition through the Integrated Food Security and Nutrition Programme.

The main objectives are to get developing countries involved economically and technically by increasing the awareness of poverty and hunger, and then promote the transfer of technology to these countries.

Do your part to fight hunger and poverty, and get that veggie garden started.
