PI investigates ‘highjacked’ guest house

ORANGE GROVE - IRS FORENSIC Investigations are investigating an alleged hijacking of a guest house.

Jean Tshama said he is the rightful owners, as he purchased it in 2008.

Tshama, who commissioned the investigation, said the property in question is Dondo’s Guest House on the corner of Fife Avenue and Mitchell Street in Berea. He stated that he purchased the house, renovated it and turned into a guest house known as The Galaxy Guest House.

IRS chairperson Chad Thomas said, “Tshama used a proxy to transfer the property that he bought to Matilda Walaza, with whom he was romantically involved at the time.”

Tshama said in 2010 their relationship took a turn for the worse and they went into dispute over the actual ownership of the property.

Thomas said, “The estate agent that negotiated the sale of the property to Tshama, Jesse K Estates, furnished evidence that the house was sold to our client.” Thomas gave the North Eastern Tribune a copy of the letter signed by a Jesse Estates official, confirming that the house was sold to Tshama.

Tshama alleged that in an effort to thwart the legal process, Walaza transferred the property to her friends, Frenklin Dongo and his wife Myra. He said the couple changed the name of the property to Dongo’s Guest House.

Meanwhile, Thomas said Tshama tried to get his property back but was allegedly threatened by Dongo and other unknown people. Tshama alleged Dongo and his people threatened him with guns several times.

Thomas said Tshama applied to the South Gauteng High Court to obtain restitution of his property, and on 19 December 2012, the court ordered that the property be returned to Tshama and that Dongo be restrained from coming within 1km of the property.

Thomas said Dongo’s tenants refused to vacate the place.

“[The tenants] say that Dongo warned them not to pay rent to anyone except him or his representatives, and not to vacate the premises. IRS has been left with no alternative but to begin criminal proceedings against Dongo and his associates,” said Thomas.

Meanwhile, Walaza admitted to the paper that Tshama bought the house, but she claimed he bought it for her.

“[Tshama] bought the house for me while we were staying together, and I sold it [to Dongo and his wife] because it was [in] my name.”

Dongo added, “[Tshama] is crazy, where does he own a house, did he show you papers?”

Minutes later, his wife Myra called to say she was the lawful owner.

Meanwhile, Tshama said he was living in fear of Dongo and his friends.
