Parkhurst tattoo studio to host exhibition for Choc

PARKHURST - THE sounds of construction can be heard at the Fallen Heroes custom tattoos and piercing studio located on 6th Street in Parkhurst.

The studio is currently undergoing renovations to add a permanent gallery space to showcase the work of its tattoo artists in the months to come.

Since its inception three years ago, the tattoo studio has partnered with Childhood Cancer Foundation (Choc), a non-profit organisation focused on providing all-encompassing support to families with children suffering from cancer.

Fallen Heroes has previously hosted an annual Tattoo-a-thon, where the proceeds were donated to Choc, the studio’s partner charity. With the pending opening of the gallery space, the studio plans to launch the exhibition, Thanks for Looking.

This is a stand-alone event which will display a special collaborative art piece put together by all seven of the studio’s artists.

The proceeds of this particular piece will be donated to Choc.

For the tattoo studio, the gallery offers an opportunity to broaden the perception that tattoo artists are limited to etching their work onto skin, by showcasing their talents on canvas.

For Choc, an organisation which is funded solely by donations, fundraising co-ordinator, Sophie Ndhlovo said the long-term partnership with a small business using innovative and creative means to raise awareness, was just as crucial to their cause as the sponsorship of large corporates.

The Thanks for Looking exhibition will take place on 1 November at Fallen Heroes custom tattoos and piercing.
