Bidvest and Wanderers Stadium renew naming rights sponsorship

ILLOVO – International investment holding company, Bidvest, and the Wanderers Stadium have renewed their partnership for another five years.

The multi-million naming rights sponsorship was welcomed by bizhub Highveld Lions CEO Greg Fredericks. The Lions are off to a good start in the new season and Fredericks said they were confident of having a good season.

The Bidvest Wanderers Stadium has a reputation of being the countries’ premier cricket venue. The infamous ‘438 game’ against Australia in 2006 was played at this stadium and it has been acclaimed as the greatest One Day International match ever played after numerous cricket records were broken.

“This sponsorship has been so much more than simply adding a prestigious brand association to the home of South African cricket. It has also been a guideline to what we as an organisation want to achieve and the policies and ethics we would like to adopt,” said Fredericks.

Group Financial Director at Bidvest David Cleasby said, “It’s a re-investment into cricket, both locally and on grassroots levels. We are very happy to be associated with the Lions and the stadium. This is the fortress of South African cricket.”

Bidvest has established itself as a major player in the sponsorship of South African sport. The company is a sponsor of Parktown-based Bidvest Wits Football Club.
