Major concern after 3 Parks women murdered this year

CRAIGHALL - THE murders of three elderly women in Gazetteville this year alone has raised some concerns with residents.

One 78-year-old woman was murdered in her home in March this year, allegedly by her husband, and in the past month, two more women, one aged 87 and one, 55, were both murdered in their homes.

The slaying of 87-year-old Rosemary Dowdle in Craighall Park in September shocked the community, and in response the community has come together to try and find the perpetrators.

A Craighall Park resident told  Rosebank Killarney Gazette that Dowdle had come home and found the burglar in her home.

Although unconfirmed, the resident said local security guards discovered her body in her house after noticing her vehicle being driven off by someone else.

Spokesperson of the Craighall Residents’ Association, Wendy McAllister said the murder acted as a catalyst for the community.

“A number of residents have come forward with some suggestions to possibly set up a fund to reward any person whose information leads to the conviction of criminals – not only in Rosemary’s case but for any resident who has been a victim of crime,” she said.

“Too many incidents, especially armed robberies, just don’t seem to see anyone arrested, so we’re hoping that this initiative will assist the police in their efforts.”
