78-Year-old husband arrested for wife’s murder granted bail

PARKTOWN-NORTH - A 79-year-old man was arrested at his workplace this afternoon for the murder of his 70-year-old wife.

UPDATE: 25 September 2014, 3:30pm – The man accused of killing his wife appeared in court earlier today and was was granted R10,000 bail on condition that he reports to Parkview police station on Monday and Friday. He also cannot leave his home or travel anywhere.

Initial report: 23 September, 2014, 14:55pm – The murder took place in Parktown North on the night of 15 March this year.

A close friend of the victim told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that the husband’s story had never added up and that friends had always suspected his involvement.

The husband will appear in a Johannesburg Court on Thursday to apply for bail.

Police have confirmed that the elderly husband was arrested in connection with the case, but could not supply further information.
