Torah Academy pupil excels

Torah Academy has congratulated one of their pupils for his performance in the 2014 Israel Quiz.

Ellie Joffe was the youngest participant in the final round of the competition which was held at the Edward Nathan Sonnenberg auditorium in Sandton.

Only 15 finalists made it to the last stage of the competition which consisted of four live rounds, in front of an audience. Finalists were knocked out in each of the four rounds based on their scores, until there were three left.

Participants came from King David Linksfield, King David Victory Park, Yeshiva College, Torah Academy and Hirsch Lyons Boys’ High School.

Attendees were addressed by deputy Israeli ambassador Michael Freeman and chairperson of the South African Zionist Federation, Avrom Krengel.

Chai FM’s Benjy Shulman emceed the event which was organised by the Israel Centre and the federation.

Joffe walked away with a mini iPad.
