Pridwin boys learn about recycling

CRAIGHALL - About 60 Grade 3 boys of Pridwin School took it upon themselves to clean up a part of the Braamfontein Spruit.

The clean-up coincided with National Recycling Day on 19 September during Clean-up SA Week which took place from 15 to 20 September.

The aim of the day was to increase awareness by educating the young boys about the environmental and economic benefits of recycling.

Ward 90 committee member, Paulette Malcolm said it was important to pass on the knowledge of recycling and taking care of the environment to the young boys.

Pikitup officials spoke to the boys, advising them on how to start recycling within their own homes.

The Pick n Pay in Craighall provided the boys and teachers with food, juice and snacks to help them throughout the day.

Grade 3 teacher Hanlie Garner accompanied the boys. She said the boys enjoyed the activities and also learnt about their environment.
