On Heritage Day, 24 September, Sacred Heart College will celebrate 125 years of legacy and excellence with the One Heart Music Festival featuring Mi Casa and many South African top musicians.

The school was founded in 1889. The school’s marketing co-ordinator Naomi Meyer said, “It is only fitting that the college celebrates Heritage Day with a festival featuring artists who have shaped the heritage of music in South Africa.”

The line-up, from 2pm to 6pm, includes greats such as Jonas Gwangwa, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Judith Sephuma, Simphiwe Dana and Paul Hanmer. Meyer said, “Teens and the young at heart from all over Johannesburg will congregate to see the award- winning Mi Casa, who will be performing from 6pm onwards.”

The One Heart Music Festival will cater for all. A children’s entertainment area will be available on the day. Children under the age of six years can enter free. Meyer said, “This is truly going to be a day for all to enjoy, but just for a moment we should be reminded what it is really about: to provide access to quality education for underprivileged children. The proceeds from the festival will benefit the Three2Six Refugee Project and Sacred Heart College’s Field of Flowers Scholarship fund.”

Tickets can be purchased at Sacred Heart College or online.
