A walk though Ethiopian culture

For adventurers with wanderlust and a tight budget, a trip to the city can satisfy all your travel needs.

The Johannesburg CBD is home to Little Addis, also known as Little Ethiopia, a hub of aromatic spice, spaces seeping with culture, and endless tradition that can easily fill the hole left by a yearning for exploration of the unknown.

Ancient Secrets started walking tours of the district to introduce city dwellers to a new world, right on their doorstep.

And a new world it is. Walking tours typically give visitors an unrivalled experience in Ethiopian hospitality.

Tours start with a coffee ceremony, and discussions on the Amharic language and culture, Orthodox Christianity and Ethiopian Jewish roots, the culinary delights of Ethiopian food and spices, as well as a look at the lives of Ethiopian people in Johannesburg today.

Visitors can also explore the area, and shop, as well as enjoy a traditional meal.

It is a space in Johannesburg where Africa meets Africa, as Ethopian culture and South Africa clash with splashes of colour, fragrance and an exciting hustle and bustle.

The next walking tour of the area is taking place on 20 September, and for the adventurers that need reassurance, safe parking is available at the former Sun Hotel on the corner Jeppe Street and Von Weilligh streets.
