Swing for charity

The countdown has begun for the Rand Aid Association's annual golf day.

Spokesperson for the non-profit organisation, Cathy Grosvenor said there were only a few four-balls remaining. “Companies still wishing to sponsor a hole or donate prizes to help the organisation continue supporting the less fortunate, frail and elderly residents in its care are invited to come forward,” said Grosvenor.

She added that players wanting to book their spot could contact them.

The event is scheduled to take place on 19 September at the Modderfontein Golf Club.

Grosvenor said the day also offered a shotgun start, four-ball alliance (two scores to count), halfway house, dinner and prizegiving.

Meanwhile, Grosvenor appealed to members of the community to support the organisation’s charity shop.

She said the shelves were almost empty and the organisation was in desperate need of items that people no longer used or needed. “Clothes, books, bric-a-brac, kitchen utensils, appliances, furniture, ornaments or games, all in good condition that the organisation is able to sell, are welcome.”

The income generated goes directly towards enriching the lives of the elderly in the organisation’s retirement villages. “Help Rand Aid to help those less fortunate than yourself,” said Grosvenor.
