Health awareness issues

Nigerian Community Organisation in Orange Grove will be hosting their first annual health seminar on their effort to raise health awareness issues in the community.

The seminar will be based on the organisation’s efforts to raise health awareness issues in the community.

The seminar will be held at St Augustine’s Anglican Church hall, 67 9th Street, Orange Grove. The organisation’s president Owa Solomon said they were was registered as a no-profit organisation.

Solomon said, “We have been in existence for more than four years, and comprise of Nigerians living or doing business in Orange Grove. This is the first seminar that we are organising, but we intend to continue it every year. It is for us to learn more about our health, diabetes, HIV/Aids, high blood pressure, and other stress related illnesses.”

He said the seminar which would run from 6pm to 9.30pm would include speakers such as Dr Nonso Ukachukwu who will be speaking on diabetes, tuberculosis, high blood pressure, and stress related illnesses. The other main speaker will be Sister Docas Owolabi who will speak about HIV/Aids and its prevention.

Ukachukwu is a medical doctor working at Sunninghill Hospital and Owolabi is a nurse at Linksfield Hospital. Solomon added that interested individuals or organisations were welcome to attend free of charge.
