Fiancé’s throat slit during hijacking

YEOVILLE - A body of a man with a slit throat was discovered after he and his fiancée were hijacked in Yeoville.

According to police the woman and her fiancé were hijacked at the corner of Regent and Phile streets.

Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the deceased was driving a white BMW along Regent Street when they were stopped by three men at a stop sign.

Malatji said, “They were forced to drive around the area and later the suspects dropped the woman in Hunter Street in Yeoville. The suspects drove off with her fiancé. She went to the police to report the incident.”

He said later on in the middle of the night the police received a call about a body of a man dumped on the corner of Regent Street East and Fourie Street. On arrival police found a man with a slit throat. The deceased fitted the same description of the hijacked victim as reported earlier by the woman.

Malatji said the victims’ car was later recovered abandoned in Yeoville at the corner of Frances Street and Cavendish Road. He added that no arrests had been made. Malatji added, “We appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the police.”
