Cold front rips through the city

JOBURG - HOWLING winds, twisting trees and objects being tossed through the air are becoming common scenes for Joburg residents.

The harsh weather conditions that have hit the country repeatedly in recent months have all but blown residents away.

However, the most recent bout of bad weather has left parts of the iconic Nelson Mandela Bridge in Braamfontein in tatters earlier this morning.

The heavy winds that ripped through the city yesterday and shredded the bridge’s massive inset images of the late former statesman.

The strips could be seen this morning being flung about by the ongoing turbulent winds.
