Boy (7) survives accident but dad dies

A seven-year-old boy survived but his father died on the scene after their car overturned in Yeoville.

According to police, the father was killed when his vehicle overturned at the corner of Observatory Avenue and Innes Street. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said, “The father was found trapped inside the vehicle and emergency services were called to free the body from the wreckage of the vehicle.”

He said the man was certified dead on the scene and his child was taken to hospital. Malatji added that all law enforcement authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
