Norwood sector meeting to be held

Residents living in Sector 1 of the Norwood policing area are reminded to attend the second meeting organised by the Norwood Community Policing Forum.

Residents living in Sector 1 of the Norwood policing area are reminded to attend the second meeting organised by the Norwood Community Policing Forum.

Chairperson, Duncan Barker said crime had increased in the sector and that he believes the meeting will help residents in the fight against crime.

Suburbs covered in the sector include Houghton Estate, Melrose, Melrose North, Melrose Estate, Melrose Bird Sanctuary, James and Ethel Grey Park, Houghton Golf Club, Killarney Golf Course, Birdhaven, Riviera and Birnam.

Barker said residents living in the Sector 1 area should also be on the lookout for a blue Toyota Conquest used in thefts out of motor vehicles. He said, “It seems as though Sector 1 has picked up in terms of criminal activity. It is a good thing then that we have the meeting scheduled for this sector to establish a sub-forum.”

The meeting will take place on 28 August at the Wanderers Club’s Champion Room in Melrose and will start at 6pm.

Barker encouraged residents to like the forum’s pages on Facebook and Twitter to receive updates and tips from the forum.

He said, “Please consider getting involved in one of our forums. We need all of us to fight the scourge of crime.”
