Rapist apologises to woman the morning after raping her

YEOVILLE - Police arrested a man for allegedly raping a drunken woman.

According to police the suspect was apprehended at the corner of Frances and De La Rey streets.

Yeoville police spokesperson, Constable Thabo Malatji said the victim alleged that she was drinking with the suspect and her boyfriend when she decided to go home and sleep.

Malatji said, “She told the police that the suspect offered to accompany her but he did not take her to her place; he took her to another room. He started to rape her.”

He added that the victim told the police that when she woke up in the morning she realised that she was at a place that she did not know, and the suspect started to apologise for what he did to her.

According to Malatji the woman reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested. The suspect was expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of rape.
