Fraudster caught in the act

A tip-off by member of the public lead the Yeoville police to a man who was allegedly in possession of fraudulent documents.

According to police a 35-year-old man was arrested on the corner of Rocky and Bezuitenhout streets. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said police received information about a person who was forging pay slips and identity documents in an internet café.

Malatji said, “The police found the suspect in the act, and he was also in possession of government employees’ pay slips and three green bar coded South African identity documents bearing different names.”

He said police arrested and detained the suspect. The suspect is expected to appear in Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon.
