Lucky woman wins wedding dress

Nompakamo Dzanibe shared her excitement after winning her step-mother the wedding dress of her dreams.

Dzanibe was the winner of the Share your dream competition aired on South African soapie, Muvhango on SABC 2.

A wedding dress valued at R25 000 was handed over at an event at Machere, a women’s clothing store in Parktown North, on 8 July, hosted by Standard Bank.

After receiving the news she had won a wedding dress, worn by popular soap character, Thandaza, Dzanibe said she couldn’t believe her luck when she got the phone call from Standard Bank.

Celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, Dzanibe’s parents would be renewing their vows in a wedding-style ceremony next year.

“I entered the competition with the intention of winning the dress for my step-mother. She loved the dress from the word go – she was glued on screen when Thandaza got married,” she said.

“When I saw that they were giving away the dress I entered the competition without her knowing. When Prudence from Standard Bank called me, I cried because I’ve always wanted to do something just to thank my step-mother for loving me so much.”

Dzanibe said she was so happy and excited because she realised that “dreams really do come true”.

Muvhango cast member Sindi Dlathu, who plays Thandaza, and Brian Themba Malikwane, also known as Ranthumeng in the series, were present to share in the celebration.

The winner generously donated her prize to her mother, Fezeka Dzanibe who also attended the event.
