Fun run held in memory of Val Wilkinson

PARKVIEW – RAM Rockies Runners Club held a memorial 5km club run at Zoo Lake, in memory of long-time serving member, Val Wilkinson who passed away in July.

Wilkinson had been hospitalised for three weeks, prior to her passing at the age of 75. She had been a central figure in the running affairs of the club since joining in the ’70s, serving on the club committee and assisting administratively at the club office.

Wilkinson and her husband, Richard were involved in the timing of the club time trial every Saturday morning at the Zoo Lake since its inception in 1984. She also served in Central Gauteng Athletics’ road running structures as a race referee for the past 20 years.
