Several parts of northern Johannesburg will be without electricity on 11 August due to planned power outages.
Parts of Craighall, Hyde Park, Craighall Park, Dunkeld, Dunkeld West, Parkwood, Melrose, Saxonwold and Parktown North will be without power from 10pm on 1 August until 6am the next day.
According to Ward 117 councillor, Tim Truluck, the power outages will be due to maintenance by City Power on a Rosebank sub-station which serves the area.
In a previous interview with Truluck, the councillor had said the main reason for so many planned outages was because equipment at the sub-stations was old and needed upgrading.
“The good news is that we will be getting a R10-million upgrade in 2014/15 and another R10 million in 2015/16. These upgrades should reduce planned outages,” he said.
