Bramley police are on the manhunt for a car thief and a suspect for theft out of a motor vehicle in two separate incidents in their precinct.

In the first incident, the police said an Alexandra resident parked his white Ford Courier with the registration number JLS 541GP in the parking lot of Ultra Liquors on Corlett Drive. Bramley police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the driver told the police that he went to an ATM across the road and locked the doors and closed the windows properly.

Maphakela said, “He then went to Ultra Liquors to buy something but when he came out he realised that the car was not there. He then went to report the matter with the store’s staff members who assisted him by viewing the CCTV footage. Then they saw a man forcing the driver’s door open and drove off with the complainant’s bakkie.”

Maphakela added that the bakkie had a white canopy and the total value of the car was R50 000; the police are still looking for the suspect.

In the second incident, the complainant told police that he parked his white Mercedes Benz in Protea Avenue, Chiselhurston. Maphakela said the driver left the car locked and closed the windows properly. He said, “A few minutes later he was informed by a security guard that someone had broken to his car. He went outside and found that the window on the passenger side was broken.”

Maphakela said the driver realised that his wallet containing bank cards, an ID book, driver’s and firearm licences was missing. He appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits to contact the police.

Details: Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, 082 411 0188.
