Police arrest two suspects before robbery

Hillbrow police arrested two suspects for allegedly being in possession of unlicensed firearm.

Police stated that they were conducting a routine stop and search patrol when they spotted two men standing on the corner of Soper Road and Fife Avenue. Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said the police approached the two men and asked to search them.

Zondo said, “When police searched them they found an unlicensed firearm on one of the men, and they were both arrested.”

Zondo stated that the police believed that the two suspects were waiting to rob people on the street using the 9mm pistol in their possession.

He said the suspects were expected to appear at the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of being in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
