Police get spa treatment on Mandela Day

PARKVIEW – Police officers were treated to neck and shoulder massages by Craighall-based, Hands On Retreat and Sleep Spa on Mandela Day.

Staff of the spa, on Argyle Avenue, were on hand to give much needed relief to police officers at the station.

CEO of the Spa, Martina Laurie said they had a close relationship with the leadership of the station. “Our way of thanking Parkview Police Station for keeping Craighall safe is to treat their staff to one of our pampers.”

Constable Shivambu said, “This came at the right time, I had a sleepless night and I was too stressed to focus. After the massage I felt a huge load lifted from my shoulders. Thank you so much guys it means a lot to me.”

The world celebrated Mandela’s birthday by dedicating at least 67 minutes of their time to do good for someone else. This was the first Mandela Day in the absence of the struggle icon, who passed away at his Houghton home on 5 December, last year.
