SAB invites entrepreneurs to pitch their winning ideas

It could take just over a minute, and a promising business idea to turn a business dream into a reality.

In celebration of Nelson Mandela Day, 67 young entrepreneurs will be given a minute to make a business pitch that could change their lives.

On 18 July, these young South Africans will be given 67 seconds to pitch their start-up business ideas, and successful pitches will qualify candidates for a programme funded by South African Breweries comprising of business development support.

The initiative, The Lean Jump, is a pilot programme targeting young entrepreneurs based in Gauteng.

It is the brainchild of SA Breweries KickStart, its youth entrepreneurship programme; The Hookup Dinner which is an entrepreneurship networking platform; and Edge Growth, specialists in enterprise and supplier development.

Those participants with successful pitches will be provided with six months of virtual business mentorship.

Edge Growth will provide successful participants with business development support services throughout the programme.

Once participants complete their six month business intervention programme, 10 successful candidates will qualify to participate in its youth entrepreneurship development competition.

Successful businesses will also stand a chance to get a share of R300 000 as seed capital, which will be used to put their business concept into operation or towards additional support for marginal growth.

The Lean Jump serves to expand SA Breweries KickStart’s efforts to instil a culture of entrepreneurship among young South Africans, and offer leading start-up development support to promising small business.

Potential participants are invited to pitch their ideas at 9am on 18 July at 19 Melle Street, Braamfontein.
