Local government by-election fever kicks off in Ward 90

SANDTON - Ward 90 residents were invited to meet the DA candidate councillor for the next local government by-elections, set to take place on 13 August.

Anthony Still addressed guests at the Craighall Bowling Club and expressed his excitement at being the DA candidate for the ward. “I know I’ll be joining the right team and we will make a change,” he said.

Still is the former managing director of Joburg Water and has been living in Johannesburg for many years. He lived in Parkmore for 10 years and he has been actively involved in municipal development such as outsourcing municipal services.

He said he still has much to learn, and is confident that with the calibre of the residents’ associations in Ward 90, he will be successful.

Former Ward 90 councillor, Gordon Mackay who is now representing the DA in parliament, congratulated Still. “Anthony is an astounding candidate,” he said. “A change is always difficult but it is good because at this level, good and fresh ideas are needed.”

Gordon went on to assure Still that he was inheriting a well-functioning ward. He said there had been vast improvements to Ward 90 during his reign.

“We’ve seen road and water infrastructure in Rosebank, Sandhurst and Hyde Park,” he added.

He said the ward had become strengthened and more integrated throughout the years, and he hopes it will continue in that direction.
