Ward 90 by-election dates released
Since the departure of the ward 90 councillor, Gordon Mackay, residents have been patiently waiting for the by-elections.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced it will be holding a voter registration on 5 and 6 July
This is an effort to register new voters who have moved to Ward 90 since the previous registration period, prior to the May general elections.
“The commission will be registering new voters in order to ensure that they will be eligible to vote in the upcoming ward 90 by-election to elect a new councillor for Ward 90 on 13 August,” Mackay said.
“Importantly, voters must register at the correct voting district in order to be eligible to vote as this is a local government election to elect Ward 90’s representative to council.”
The suburbs and voting districts include:
- Craighall and Craighall Park residents can register at Craighall Primary School;
- Dunkeld, Illovo and Hyde Park residents can register at Hyde Park High School;
- Dunkeld West residents can register at Rosebank Bowling Club; and
- Sandhurst, Hurlingham, Glenadrienne, Parkmore, Riepen Park and Clint can all register at George Lea Sports Club.
Voting stations will be open from 7am to 5pm on both days.
Residents will require their green barcoded ID book to register.
