Norwood arms cache suspects appear in court

Three suspects involved in an arms cache scandal in Norwood appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on 23 June.

According to the Hawks, the case was postponed to 15 July for a formal bail application for two of the accused.

The three are charged with possession of ammunition, unlicensed firearms, dealing in dagga, and contravention of the Explosives Act.

The three suspects, Emma Shumler-Tishko, 62; her husband Mark, 59; and Endi Nkhoma, 26; were arrested on 22 May at the couple’s house in Norwood after police discovered the arms cache there.

Included in the cache were R1 rifles, R4 rifles, R5 rifles, AK-47 rifles and approximately 300 handguns.

Police also discovered detonators, a machine used to manufacture ammunition, packaged dagga and explosives used for ATM bombings.
