Warming winter walks at Melville Koppies

MELVILLE - Stave off the July chills by spending some time in the winter sun at Melville Koppies Nature Reserve.

The Friends of Melville Koppies have a limited programme for the month, which will allow visitors to explore some of the natural treasures of this important green space.

5 July: Dog-lovers and their four-footed friends will be able to ramble across Melville Koppies West, the largest part of the reserve, on a special walk with dogs at 8am.

Parking will be available in 3rd Avenue, off Arundel Road, Westdene.

6 July: Explore the oldest part of the reserve on a guided walk of Melville Koppies Central, with its fascinating geological and archaeological features, including an Iron Age furnace, at 2pm.

Parking will be available at Marks Park, Judith Road, Emmarentia.

The guided walk of Melville Koppies Central will be repeated on 13 July at 8.30am and on 20 July at 2pm.
