Park and Ride on the cards for Parkhurst?

Parking on 4th Avenue still remains a problem, is the park and ride system the solution?

With the removal of paid parking in Parkhurst, parking on 4th Avenue still remains a problem.

117 Ward Councillor, Tim Truluck believes the demand for on-street parking along 4th Avenue may be too high to accommodate all visitors to its restaurants, shops and offices.

The City of Joburg, Truluck and the Parkhurst Residents and Business Owners Association are looking into possibly introducing a Park and Ride facility for long-term parking within the suburb.

According to Truluck, a Park and Ride facility could alleviate the existing parking problems, especially over weekends and at night.

He said tuk-tuks could be used to ferry people, and with the involvement of the tuk-tuk company, residents could be offered a fee to be picked up from their homes to the restaurant node.

Truluck asked that all residents in Parkhurst fill out a printed questionnaire that they can find at the restaurants and businesses in 4th Avenue.

“This questionnaire is for all people who shop, eat or visit Parkhurst and not just for residents,” he said.

Do you think the park and ride is the best solution?
