Houghton Golf Club to host championship regional elimination round

Houghton Golf Club has been selected as a Gauteng host golf course for the 20th commemorative World Golfers Championship regional elimination.

This will be the first time the golf club will welcome the World Golfers Championship to its course on 15 August.

The championship is considered the world’s largest amateur golf championship with national championships in more than 40 countries.

This tournament gives local golfers an opportunity to experience a pro-golfer tour-like competition as it reaches the World Final stage.

In the build-up to the World Final to be held from 29 October to 8 November at four of KwaZulu-Natal’s championship golf courses, more than 40 countries will once again be searching for their top amateur golfers.

Amateur golfers who believe they can win the tournament need to first enter the regional elimination online, to secure their spot on the tee-box at Houghton Golf Club.

The top three winners in each flighting will win an all-expense paid entry to the South African final, where the top two flighting winners will be selected for Team South Africa.

The team will play for the title at the World Final.
