Féte to excite in Melville once again

Melville residents can look forward to another exciting event as the celebrated Féte de La Musique returns this year.

Billed as an exciting showcase featuring live performances, The Féte de La Musique event will once again take place in Melville.

The event, also known as the Melville Music Day will take place on 28 June on Seventh Street and will run from 10am to 6pm.

According to Yannik Vidot, communication officer at Alliance Francaise Johannesburg the festival will return to Melville once again and promises to offer a wide range of activities this year.

“It is a fun and exciting showcase of diverse local and international music, celebrated in a safe and inclusive atmosphere that brings communities together in a popular and free event,” he said.

He added that the féte would feature amateur and professional musicians, and was open to residents and families alike.

The fête is hosted by the Melville Residents Association, the Melville Business Association, the French Institute of South Africa, the Délégation Générale des Alliances Françaises and the Alliance Francaise of Johannesburg. It was launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for culture and is held in more than 100 countries. The event has grown immensely in South Africa with more than 30 000 people attending it in various cities in the country.
