Wits appoints new registrar

PARKTOWN – Carol Crosley has been appointed as the new Registrar of Wits University.

Since starting at Wits in 1998, Crosley has held various positions at the university. She was the former deputy registrar – enrolment, a position she held from 2013. Before that, from 2001, she was the deputy registrar and head of the student enrolment centre, which she played a pivotal role in establishing.

Crosley’s passion has always been education. She was a high school teacher for 10 years – first at King Edward VII School from 1983 to 1987 and then at Sandown High School from 1992 to 1997.

She completed her masters degree in education last year, with her research dissertation focusing on how students can bring about change in their school environment.

Crosley said, “I recognise that crucial conversations need to take place on how students are serviced and supported, and about trust in the internal processes.

“I am looking forward to working with staff members across the spectrum in developing a collective sense of priorities and strengths, and to professionalise the administrative environment so that administrative excellence can be achieved.”
