Tweeters share the cold

Twitter has been abuzz this morning with residents sharing their cold tweets.

A cold front hit Johannesburg this morning, and at 6am temperatures were hovering around the zero degree mark. It may have warmed slightly by mid-morning, but an icy wind can still be felt cutting through even the fuzziest of jackets.

According to the South African Weather Service today’s maximum temperature is 13, while the minimum is 0. Saturdays minimum is projected to be -1, while the maximum is 15. Sunday looks much the same.

@alastairotter tweeted a photo of his dashboard with the caption “It’s cold out there.”

@heidibeeee shared a lovely suggestion. “Jozi peeps: before you leave the house, grab an item or two of clothing you never wear & hand them to a homeless person you see on your way.”

@MuziNkosi2 sent a photo of his car’s thermometer displaying the number zero. “Zero Degrees Outside this morning. This should be a day spent at home in bed… Off to the office.”

@ER24JHBNorth tweeted, “An ice cold morning in jhb north please all keep warm. And remember to be safe when using heaters and fires to keep warm.

@ArkAnimalCentre urged residents to take care of their pets in this cold weather. “Pls keep ur pets inside during this #ColdFront. If u’re cold, they’re cold! Keep them in ur garage during the evening.”
