Grantley College celebrates 50 years

PARKTOWN – Grantley College in Parktown celebrated their 50th birthday at the school.

Grantley College in Parktown celebrated their 50th birthday at the school.

Established in 1964, it is a non-profit independent high school which offers supported education in an intimate environment with a maximum of 15 pupils per class.

Head prefect at the school, Lebohang Molefe said the diversity of the pupils had made his experience better, while Mandla Makhubela who is a member of the Johannesburg Junior Council, said the school support system played a big role in its success. Head mentor, Mongezi Zondi praised the dedication of the teachers.

The school has been named the best LSEN (Learners with Special Educational Needs) school from 2010 to 2013 in the Johannesburg East district.

On the day, Academic Principal Gail McQueen addressed guests, teachers and board members. An array of activities took place like table tennis, netball, soccer, sack racing and a dancing competition, with pupils Mika Clarke and Thabo Treffers dominating the dance floor.
