Winter highlights at the Bioscope
The Bioscope will host an exciting range of short films, documentaries and movies.
Beat the winter blues with heart-warming and enjoyable movie screenings taking place at The Bioscope Independent Cinema.
First up at the cinema is The South African International Documentary Film Festival, which has taken place for the past five years at The Bioscope. Titled Encounters, the festival promises to feature some of the best local and international festivals and will run from 6 June to 15 June.
Also to be featured at The Bioscope is the Cinema of Prayoga, which is described as a conceptual framework locating the history of experimental film in India. Items featured during the two day festival will include night-screenings of short films, documentaries and feature films exclusively from India.
Some of the exciting films to be featured include Mount Song, Between the Waves and Siddheshwari. Cinema of Prayoga will run for two nights only on 31 May to 1 June.
The Bioscope has also launched a new monthly event at the cinema titled KiezKino Presents.
Every month, a film from the Goethe film archive will be presented at The Bioscope and the concept behind launching it is to discover and screen German cinema
