Syndicate targeting Parkview residents

PARKVIEW – Police have issued a warning to residents about two vehicles that have been involved in a spate of house robberies.

PARKVIEW – Police have issued a warning to residents to be on the lookout for two vehicles that have been used in a spate of house robberies.

Parkview police spokesperson, Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said a black BMW, usually with four to five occupants and a white Hyundai H1 bakkie with about 10 men dressed in blue work suits, have been targeting residential homes in Parkview.

Ramovha said suspects in the Hyundai “drive to their targeted houses and speak to the domestic workers, convincing them that they have been hired to come and do some sort of construction work at the premises by the owner of the house. They even go further and pretend to be confirming telephonically with the owner that they have arrived”.

In a recent incident, the criminals allegedly gained entry to a home on Dundalk Avenue using the same modus operandi. “They then tied up the domestic worker. Unknown to them was that a second domestic worker was also on the premises and they only noticed her running out of the gate to seek help,” said Ramovha.

Fortunately the suspects aborted their robbery and drove-off. Ramovha said residents should keep an eye out for these suspicious vehicles and exercise caution.
