Woman arrested for attempting murder

Yeoville police arrested a woman for defeating the ends of justice at the corner of Yeo Street and Fortesque Road.

Members of the Hillbrow detective branch were following information about a docket of attempted murder that was committed in the Hillbrow policing area.

According to police, they received information that the firearm used in the commission of this crime was hidden in a flat in Yeoville.

Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the police proceeded to the flat and found the woman who was described to be the one hiding the firearm.

Malatji said, “She took them (police) to the place where she hid the firearm wrapped in a plastic bag.” Accordind to Malatji the woman also informed the police that the suspect instructed her to hide it. The 19-year-old woman was later arrested and is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of defeating the ends of justice.
