Parkhurst woman in armed robbery

PARKHURST – Armed robbery victim Lynda Veverley, thanked police, security officials and fellow Parhurst residents for their help and support following the incident.

On 19 May, in broad daylight, four armed men gained access to Lynda Veverley’s home on 21st Street.

The 53-year-old said her mother had visited her that day. “My mom suddenly saw four guys inside the house, with guns, wearing balaclavas and she just started screaming,” she said.

At this point Veverley was lying on her bed when her mother and domestic worker were pushed into the room by the armed men.

“They threw the domestic worker on the floor and kicked her in the face, punched my mom in the face and broke her glasses, so she couldn’t see.”

“They held me down on the bed; he [the armed robber] cocked the gun and held it to my head where I have a bruise now,” she said, with her finger placed on her hairline.

The suspects allegedly demanded firearms, cellphones and CCTV footage; they proceeded to take several valuable items before fleeing the scene.

Veverley had been sitting on her cellphone, and the robbers fortunately didn’t see it. She called Parkview police and Tactical Security who responded promptly. She expressed her gratitude to all community members who have since offered help in various forms, as well as the police and security officials who assisted her after the ordeal.
